Among the attractions not to be missed is the Iguazu Falls which was chosen as one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The Iguaçu National Park was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 as it is one of the largest forest reserves in South America. Do not forget to bring a raincoat and go with comfortable clothes and shoes. The word “Iguaçu” originates in the Tupi-Guarani language and means great water, that is, when you visit the Falls, and, if you decide to take a boat trip, you have a great chance of getting wet.

Close to Iguazu Falls, there is Passeio das Aves (the Bird Park). At this location, you will see the most different species of Brazilian birds in their natural habitats. I am sure you will love it! Colorful and lush birds are found in nurseries integrated into the rainforest.

Another interesting tour is the visit to the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant, one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world. Within the Itaipu Tourist Complex, you can watch the Monumental Illumination of the Power Plant, visit the Ecomuseum, the Bela Vista Biological Refuge, the Astronomical Pole and the Kattamaram Port. Do not forget to schedule your visit in advance, as the number of places is limited.

There are also other attractions worth visiting such as the Wax Museum, the Three Borders landmark (triple border landmark with an obelisk, Jesuit museum, restaurant, fountain and playground) and, if you have more time, be sure to know Puerto Iguazu and Ciudad de Este.
